Reader Ian writes: "Here's my shot at Isshinchu [apparently each ball has a name?]. First attempt casting resin. Came out all crazy-cracked, but the flaws do beautiful things with the light. There is a red star embedded in there, though it doesn't come through very well in these shots." To bring everyone up to speed: Make a Dragon Ball. The best damn Dragon Ball you can! It cannot be drawn or virtual — it must be an actual three dimension Dragon Balls. Now! If you don't know what Dragon Balls look like, you can click here. While the Dragon Balls you make should look like actual Dragon Balls, feel free to get creative with what you use to make them. The contest wraps up later this month. The finalists will win either the PS3 version or Xbox 360 version of Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit. Be sure to send entries to kotakucontestATgmailDOTcom and include a Kotaku sign. Losers get INTERNET FAME.

Reader Chris writes: "HERES MY DRAGONBALL. I MADE IT IN MY CERAMICS CLASS. IT TOOK A WHILE AND THATS WHY THERES ONLY ONE BUT HEY ITS MY GRANDPA GOHAN."

WE LOVE WRITING IN ALL CAPS, TOO.

<![CDATA[ Dragon Balls Are Orange, Yo ]]> Don't forget! We have a *another* contest going besides our MGS 'stache. Reader Letsan didn't forget, writing: "There's only one Dragon Ball for three reasons: I was too lazy to make more of them, winter has my hands colder than the Balls itself, and there is no more orange juice. And they're made out of frozen orange juice, while the little star was cut down from a rubber keychain. Almost forgot to thank Maglite for that nice Dragon Ball glow!" To bring everyone up to speed: Make a Dragon Ball. The best damn Dragon Ball you can! It cannot be drawn or virtual — it must be an actual three dimension Dragon Balls. Now! Mojotroll writes, "I emptied a snow globe and then filled it with a clear epoxy resin that I dyed orange. Once the resin hardened I added a light bulb to the inside of the base to make it light up."

Reader André sent these along. Tasty!

<![CDATA[ The Power Of Kamehameha ]]> Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit is coming to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 next month, and Atari is gearing up for a massive advertising blitz centered around the power of everyone's favorite energy wave, Kamehameha! Along with the three videos you may have seen elsewhere, Atari was nice enough to give us the exclusive clip above, displaying how shouting the name of the first king of Hawaii can make everything alright.

Hit the jump for the other three clips, which get progressive more amusing as they go along.

<![CDATA[ Talking To The DBZ: Burst Limit Demo ]]> In case you missed it, the Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit demo went up on Xbox Live this morning, and in case you aren't near your Xbox 360 to play it, I went ahead and took care of that for you. Witness me finally triumphing over the auto focus demon! Thrill as I kick Raditz's hippie ass! Revel in my random button-mashing!

Not too shabby really. I'll definitely be picking the game up, if only to lord having it over my nephew. It's the tiny victories that matter.

<![CDATA[ Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit Demo Online ]]> Looking to get your hand on the first Dragon Balls on the PS3 and Xbox 360? Atari has a demo up on Xbox Live right now for Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit, the series' first foray onto the current crop of cutting-edge consoles. The demo weighs in at under 500 megs and features two battles from the game's story mode, Goku versus long-haired guy and other long-haired guy versus those little green things. Yep, I am definitely up on my DBZ terminology. The demo is currently available on Xbox Live and should be up on PSN later today, Sony willing. While you wait, a metric ass-ton of screenshots.

<![CDATA[ DBZ Burst Limit - Trunks Vs. Recoome ]]> Here's a clip from Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit, showing off the battle stylings of the proof that Vegeta and Bulma got it on, Trunks, and the giant developmentally-disabled child Recoome. Things seem to be going well for the big lug until Trunks' hair gets blond and spiky, and then even spikier. Blond and spiky equals doom. As far as the gameplay goes, I was far more impressed by earlier screenshots than I am by the game in motion, especially in light of what I've seen of Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm. Face it Dragon Ball Z, it's much easier for fans to slip on a Leaf Village headband than craft their own giant foam hair. Maybe it's time to hang up the emergency orange outfits and move on. *flees* ]]> Wed, 30 Apr 2008 12:30:00 MDT Mike Fahey http://kotaku.com/index.php?op=postcommentfeed&postId=385633&view=rss&microfeed=true <![CDATA[ Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit In Action ]]> Atari's first Dragon Ball Z outing on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 is looking damn good, and pretty fast to boot. Guys yelling speed lines, giant hair - it's all there. Of course there won't be a truly accurate DBZ fighter until matches actually take 90 minutes and are comprised of 75% nonsensical dialogue, but then again I suppose striving for authenticity isn't always a good thing. We'll know for sure come June! ]]> Thu, 20 Mar 2008 10:20:51 MDT Mike Fahey http://kotaku.com/index.php?op=postcommentfeed&postId=370260&view=rss&microfeed=true <![CDATA[ DBZ: Burst Limit Pushes Cel-Shading To The Limit ]]> How much further can we take cel-shading? The first cell-shaded game, Jet Set Radio for the Xbox Dreamcast (whoops), completely knocked me on my ass with its (then) unique visual style, but since then the only game to do anything truly amazing with it was Capcom's Okami, which traded clean lines for brush strokes to create a unique artistic look. While Namco Bandai's Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit doesn't do anything truly innovative with cel-shading, it does manage to clean up those jaggy lines that have annoyed me in the past, presenting a style that's as clean as crisp as the process is likely to get.

<![CDATA[ Dragon Ball Z Goes Next Gen ]]> Dragon Ball Z is finally taking the next-generation plunge (the Wii now officially doesn't count), as Atari announces the development of Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Due out later this year, the title promises to be an online DBZ fighting game, only prettier. *looks at nifty bubble effect in the screenshot above* Okay - much prettier.

"Atari is excited and ready to offer fans the next iteration of the Dragon Ball Z video game series on the next-gen consoles," said Donny Clay, Producer, Atari, Inc. "With explosive cinematic graphics and online gameplay, fans of the series and of the fighting genre will surely enjoy Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit."
How the hell has the 360 gone two years without any sort of Dragon Ball Z game? The fact that there is already a (damn good) Naruto game for the system should be enough to start an old-school versus new-blood rumble. Leaf Village headbands versus giant foam hair. Who will win? Tune in to the next 20 episodes for the stunning conclusion!
